Teeth Whitening Tips To Brighten Your Smile

Your smile is all your own and makes you the unique person you are, but what if you could brighten that unique smile of yours without any actual whitening procedures? There are a number of things you can do to brighten your smile and give you whiter pearly whites. See below for some things you can do to enhance your smile.

Change Your Diet

Change up your diet a bit to include fresh fruits and vegetables and skip out on those sugary foods. Vegetables such as broccoli, kale, and romaine lettuce are all loaded with healthy vitamins. Try to eat fewer refined sugars and carbohydrates, which can stick to your tooth's enamel and cause cavities. Fresh fruits and vegetables have vitamins and minerals that are good for your teeth, gums, and your entire body.

Skip Out On Caffeine

Many dark drinks that contain caffeine can stain your teeth, so drink less coffee, tea and soda if you can. If that caffeine is what keeps you going throughout the day, then follow up those caffeinated drinks with water or a mouth rinse to clean your teeth. Drinking water can help rinse your teeth and remove dark drinks and sugar from your teeth in between brushing.

Brush And Floss

Brush your teeth twice daily for at least two minutes. Brush with a soft bristle toothbrush to prevent damaging your tooth's enamel, and use a fluoride toothpaste (or a whitening toothpaste to help remove stains). Also be sure to floss, which can remove plaque buildup in between your teeth, which is quite a bit of tooth surface that you may be missing if you aren't flossing.

Stop Tobacco Usage

If you are a tobacco user, there's no time like the present to quit. Tobacco usage can be harmful to your health, in addition to being harmful to your oral health. Tobacco can stain and rot your teeth and can lead to gum disease with prolonged usage.

Visit The Dentist Regularly

Visit your dentist regularly for checkups and cleanings. A professional cleaning will remove that buildup of plaque, which can stain your teeth. Have this plaque removed with cleanings at least every six months. Your dentist can also help give you teeth whitening tips to make your pearly whites sparkle.

If your teeth are stained and even the tips above aren't helping to brighten your teeth, you may need professional whitening treatments. Stains that are more than just surface stains may require bleach treatments or other types of treatments. Talk to your dentist about what can be done to brighten your teeth.
